In addition to documentary films, Lifeworldimage has also produced a few short films and intends to do more of these in the future.
The short Territories was originally produced in 2017 and co-produced with Picture This Production and Jasmine D’Costa who also was acted in the film. In 2019, using some of the existing footage, the project was expanded into a conceptual triptych which further exploited the chronotopic displacement of the original film, by isolating each time period and presenting it on its own.
Territories I – Past
Does the Spirit of Place have a say in human affairs? And if so, how and when?
Territories I-II-III examines the nature of boundaries across space and time and offers a glimpse into the potential effects of place, known as Genius Loci, on human behaviour while also illustrating the potentially tragic consequences of the intersection of past and present both fated to a singular space or location.
Not so much a mystery as an open question, Territories beckons the viewer to rethink notions of fate and destiny as the film’s characters find their own agency subsumed to forces and effects that are both unforeseen and unpredictable.
THE BOX
The short film entitled The Box came from the imagination of then 7 year old Claire. It is a re-imagining of a YouTube meme about travel in a box which was quite popular a few years ago. It features Claire and her G-Ma and was shot on location in New England during the summer 2018.
